Unlike many online stores, Corazon Latino doesn't buy from big wholesalers. Instead, we collaborate with specialist artisans who we have worked with for years. They create unique designs for us, in small batches, using not just silver, but also amber combed from the shores of the Baltic, liquid silver from Mexico, and unique pieces from young UK silversmiths. This approach guarantees a unique collection, offering pieces that are unlikely to be found elsewhere.
Looking for a timeless gift to express your feelings, or mark a special occasion? At Corazon Latino, we offer a unique range of sterling silver jewellery. From stunning silver bracelets, necklaces, and bangles that can be combined into extravagant sets, to dainty pendants, rings and earrings for that "just because" present. For men, we have limited-edition luxury cufflinks made from materials like rare green Baltic amber, salvaged ebony, and Victorian seaglass, all set in sterling silver.
Everything is handmade, and hallmarked by the London Assay Office, ensuring sterling silver quality. And everything is backed by our no-risk, no-questions-asked money-back guarantee.
Got a question? or a special request? Just get in touch and we will do everything we can to make sure you're 100% satisfied.
Sterling silver is the highest quality of silver used in modern jewellery. It means that 92.5% of the metal is pure silver. The other 7.5% is a combination of copper and other metals to give it strength and shine. It is possible to get jewellery in a higher % silver (we have some pieces at 99% purity) but silver higher than Sterling’s 92.5% is softer and more pliable and tends to have a less polished, more satiny finish so is not as strong or long lasting.
To legally be sold as silver in the UK, all jewellery over 8g in weight must carry a Hallmark. To get a UK Hallmark the jewellery must be individually tested, piece by piece, by one of the four UK Assay offices to ensure it has the minimum % of silver (92.5% in the case of sterling silver) and does not contain any prohibited metals (like Nickel) in the other 7.5%. Once the silver has been tested, and proved to be authentic and of the correct quality the Assay Office then apply 5 marks. The two for sterling silver, a date mark for the year, their assay office mark (our is Hallmarked with the Leopard's Head for London) & our unique makers mark. This gives you the guarantee that the silver is truly sterling silver.
Beware! A 925 stamp is NOT sufficient, not legal, and provides no such guarantee.
Silver and stainless steel are completely different. Stainless steel is an alloy of Iron with a minimum of 10.5% Chromium. The Iron alloy may also contain any or all the following: Carbon, Silicon, Manganese & Nickel. It is extremely strong and durable and will never tarnish making it good for very hard-wearing applications. But if it contains Nickel it can cause reactions in sensitive skin and as a base metal alloy, it has little value. Sterling Silver is an alloy of 92.5% Silver and 7.5% Copper and other metals. It cannot legally contain Nickel which makes it much better for skin contact, and it has an intrinsic value based on the market value of silver. So, if skin sensitivity is not an issue then it is a choice between a nigh on indestructible piece and a traditionally valuable one. Silver, is the pure metal and is too soft to be used for jewellery. Any silver jewellery sold in the UK should be tested and hallmarked sterling silver to guarantee it's quality and that it is free from Nickel. A 925 mark and a claim of "silver" is not enough, nor is it legal without the accompanying hallmark unless the item weighs less than 8g. Most earrings will be less than 8g so make sure you buy from a reputable store who hallmarks all their heavier pieces so you know their silver earrings are the same quality and nickel free
